Oprah Winfrey has seemed to flip her script somewhat on racism as well as redefining racism with her political party affiliated cohorts. Now it appears that if you don’t agree with the policies nor direction of leadership of someone, you are a racist. Regardless of your color and beliefs you are racist and to go along with that only ‘they’ (Oprah and the company that votes the same way) can play that limitless-every where-you-don’t-want-it-to-be-nor-should-it race card!
Like so very many others, I used to be a huge fan of Oprah’s, I admired everything about her personality and how well she could communicate others. I never imagined the day would come where I cringed and loathed to hear her voice, let alone see her name in print. Why? Because it seems like her favorite beat now is racism, and not as it was portrayed years ago when she addressed the issue of racial hate with youths in America segment or the Georgia Forsyth County show episodes. Those episodes show the true definition of a racist, or those with prejudices.
Racism once again is defined by Webster (for the purists) as being: “a belief that race is the primary determinant of human traits and capacities and that racial differences produce an inherent superiority of a particular race” or ”racial prejudice or discrimination.” Racism was always fought against based upon those pure defined premises and not because someone you have high regard for is not popular with everyone, discrediting those that are of the same racial identity for census purposes as you and the person you are championing. Black conservatives and well, really any Black Americans that do not agree with the policies and leadership of Barack Obama, are blatantly not counted and deemed often as “tokens” and nonentities by those whom also pitch their tents in Oprah’s camp.
Oprah Winfrey, one of America’s most beloved talk show hosts stated in a 1991 interview with Entertainment Executive for the Academy of Achievement’s Living Museum in Washington D.C. stated,
So I was hired as a token, and had to take the heat from my college classmates — I went to an all-black college — with them calling me a token. And I used to say, “Yeah, but I’m a paid token!” At the time I didn’t even know it was a pun……. Oh, you trying to be white. You are trying to talk white. You are trying to be white,” and so forth. Which is such a ridiculous notion to me, since you look in the mirror every morning, and you are black, there is a black face in your reflection.
So with all that said Oprah and in reference to your reference of your fellow college associates from those days it appears you were a victim of racism by actions deemed “non-black/atypical”, and prejudices from your own racial peers.
Oprah also stated: I would have to say that I, for the most part, have not been, as far as I know, affected”, during that segment of the interview. So one would have to say, that during those still turbulent times that were still fresh from the decades of civil rights battles for blacks in particular, Oprah felt that while being one of the “quota” to fulfill a job, she was not affected by racism and sexism…hmmm… Yet flip the script and fast forward to 2013 and Oprah is seeing discrimination everywhere and with anything to do with President Barack Obama. Just recently her interview with the BBC’s Will Gompertz to state,
There’s a level of disrespect for the office that occurs in some cases and maybe even many cases because he’s African American,” she said. There’s no question about that. And it’s the kind of thing no one ever says, but everybody’s thinking it.
There were the same levels of disrespect also there for Pres. Obama’s predecesors, yet I don’t remember this level of celebrity outrage with charges of racism. I remember seeing numerous blogs, opt-eds, cartoons and media material depicting Pres. G.W. Bush in a racist light, heck just go ahead and Google, ‘Bush Racism’ and click on images, you won’t be disappointed. I do agree with Ms. Winfrey that yes there is still racism in America and globally, but one thing she seems to forget, there are those that in moments of rage and being fed up with the same road blocks will lose their temper as well as their control in regards to her reference to congressman Joe Wilson’s behavior, but that is not indicative of the sentiment of those that once again I will state for the record, do not agree with Pres. Obama’s policies, and direction of what we deem as inexperienced from the start failed leadership.
With all that said I would like to conclude with, you can flip the script anyway you want, but perhaps some should keep in mind their own words and words I try to live by everyday without seeing racism as I try to strive for excellence.
Excellence is the best deterrent to racism or sexism~Oprah Winfrey
*As I’m writing this blog the President of the United States of America just stated, “It doesn’t make any sense to have 11 million people who are in this country illegally without any incentive or any way for them to come out of the shadows, get right with the law, meet their responsibilities and permit their families to move ahead. It’s not smart and it’s not fair.”
Wait, did he not say ILLEGALS? Even though he’s talking about the right piecemeal to a new INclusive immigration reform law, He (Obama) still glosses over the fact that it was ILLEGAL residency by far too many, that have far too much INclusive power right now!
If you can’t pay for it, we will force others to pay for it, that way you are IN and enrolled even if it’s substandard and more expensive compared to what those others really had on their own.
If you fear it will be taken away from you and it’s your only way to INsure you don’t have to be responsible for a pregnancy you created by engaging IN sexual acts, then we will make sure that we overlook the INadequacies and INjustices in the abortion practice let alone the moral implications.
If you are at an age that we have deemed your generation to be INept, we will make sure you keep thinking that by granting you the ability to stay dependent and carried by your parents INsurance up-to an age where previous generations were INdependent and getting ready to start their own families.
We want you to continue to believe that your are oppressed, repressed and stuck IN the urban jungles, so we will continue to make it lucrative with socialistic INvestment of other’s money to INcome those that make more on welfare. They are not entitled but to be INvested into by others that don’t get the benefit of returns for their contributions, not even a tax write-off more like another tax to INcrease the entitleds returns!
Teachers are viewed as INadequate to teach with tried, tested and true methods, so therefore we must implement a common standard, which doesn’t allow for those that have uncommon needs or are an exception as well as teachers that perform with exception in their classrooms. It’s all about the few INadequacies of others to be INclusive.
We can’t be exclusive by allowing the all embracing Judeo-Christian beliefs or prayer in schools and God forbid the name God or Jesus being spoken, INstead we have to all INclusive by banning those practices in public venues INcluding schools. But we are to INclude other’s foreign practices and gods INto those institutions by adopting their language, and giving more value to their Gods at the cost of our Christian values and definition of freedom!
This not a fostering of American well-being, and prosperity, as well as encouraging Americans to INdependently become involved in the welfare of Nation. We have evolved into a nation that many don’t recognize anymore! Too many are feeling excluded, as if they have become extremist for being traditionalist with INclusive goals and frankly to be honest with clarity many have become persons of INterest by the federal government for being limited government advocates!
When the INgrates of society are rewarded and allowed to occupy with impunity, but those that put their own lives on the line for all Americans are banned, barred and barricaded from public property they exclusively built by their extraordinary actions of bravery and in some circumstances against INsurmountable odds, they should never ever be excluded and viewed as INcorrigable- INsurgent, racist threats to the NATION!
Our nation has an illegal populace that feels they are being excluded because they can’t drive nor vote because, well let’s be clear with it, they are ILLEGALS that entered this country illegally. So their vote-garnering by any means necessary champions want to eradicate all the ways you can be granted INclusive American rights decides to change the language to exclude those that came INto this country using the proper channels and going through the unbroken system of immigration and not immigrating in lieu of legal procedures. Too many confuse being an immigrant with being an illegal immigrant or to simplify an illegal alien of a country with refugees or emigrates. Yes it’s confusing and you can bet the liberals’ bank on that, otherwise their INclusive practices wouldn’t garner the support to drive into the wallets and backs of true constitutional supporting citizens from the day of INception!
Finally, don’t get me wrong or others that believe as I do, that we don’t want to be INclusive and welcome other’s to the “In Crowd”, that would be far from the truth. What I find Infuriating personally that they ignore our fundamental core principles, to INclude those that with the INcorrigurity of having broken the law, being able to criticize and abuse American ways, while out of the other side of their mouths demand American rights that are benefits to being a legal law-abiding citizen. They demand we create laws and policies for their benefit as if it’s an INclusive right while boldly and with impunity announcing their illegal status!
This song posted here says it all in my opinion to the generation and future generations of government-Nanny’d dependents, if we don’t get a true and realistic view of the concept of abusive INclusiveness back into the nation.
I don’t care, I love it.
I don’t care.
You’re on a different road, I’m in the Milky Way
You want me down on earth, but I am up in space
You’re so damn hard to please, we gotta kill this switch
You’re from the 70′s, but I’m a 90′s bitch
I love it!
I love it!
