2013 The Year In Review w/The Last Civil Right, From Gun Control to Romney Still In The News!
2013 was a year of first as a collective for the ladies of the Last Civil Right, and what a busy year we had. The year started off with an offer to lend our talent for sharing the truth and nothing but the absolute truth in the manner that we are best at and that’s through our written words shared by our numerous friends, and fellow supporters for christian/conservative causes. We started the year off with a surprising and truly blessed invitation to join Star Parker’s CURE network at a press conference in Washington D.C., on gun control and second amendment rights called The Never Again Campaign. Below is a video and picture documentary of the year with TLCR ladies on the road.

The very next month, March of 2013 we were invited to speak at the New Jersey 2nd Amendment Society by Frank Fiamingo.
Follow-up blog regarding that wonderful event with our fellow freedom patriots in New Jersey at: http://thelastcivilright.org/2013/03/25/the-ladies-of-the-last-civil-right-taking-their-voices-to-the-streets/
Gun Control became a hot subject long before the tragedy of the Newton Ct. school shooting in 2013, and the Last Civil Rights ladies were hot on the trail of the congressional caucus for this fundamental right with some of America’s brightest advocates and experts in the field of gun rights. Kuuleme Stephens attended Tea Party and speaking engagements in Arizona. Shannon Wright covered the state of New Jersey regarding their on-going and continuous battle for gun permits, licenses and carry rights. Babette Holder-Youngberg attended Tea Party and rallies in Illinois that year as well as following the Illinois state legislation debates and votes for the concealed carry law. We have a few blogs here on gun control, but one that may be of interest is the one where I used information from Professor Gary Kleck and Rob Young. Rob Young is a survivor of a famous school shooting, Cleveland Elementary playground shooting to be exact, that blog is located at this link: http://thelastcivilright.org/2013/04/02/a-lone-survivors-voice-amongst-the-cacophony-of-gun-control/
I would also recommend the blog featuring some interesting data from a renowned handgun crime expert and professor Gary Kleck. http://thelastcivilright.org/2012/12/27/second-amendment-duel-on-americans-right-to-bear-arms/
The Last Civil Rights Ladies answered the invitation to lend our media voices again in Washington D.C. with CURE, this time for abortion and specifically the Gosnell atrocity in the Planned Parenthood abortion industry.
If you didn’t catch our detailed writings on the Gosnell press conference and legislative briefing you can read more at this link: http://thelastcivilright.org/2013/05/18/planned-parenthoods-deliberate-decimation-of-the-black-community/
This is a video from CURE of Catherine Davis speaking at the Congressional briefing after the Gosnell press conference which the ladies of The Last Civil Rights group also attended.
During the year we attended many events in our respective states individually as well. After the Gosnell press conference, Pastor Shannon Wright attended the @Large Conference, while Kuuleme and Babette attended the Tonya Reaves Memorial and call for justice by the Black Pro-life activists and pastors in Chicago, IL. Walter B. Hoye, Pastor Ceasar LeFlore, Pastor Alveda King, Connie Eller, Zina Hackworth, Letitia Wong, Thomas Duane Smith, Dr. Eric Wallace, to name a few with CURE’s support being Represented by Lonnie Poindexter in attendance so many others from around the nation. Tonya Reaves is the 24 year old woman that died from a botched late term abortion in Illinois in July of 2012.
In September of 2013 Babette attended the Black Conservative Summit by Freedom Journal, in St. Charles, IL. Kuuleme Stephens wrote an article for TLCR relating to the fact that because of the name of the summit some felt it was racist due to the name of the summit, you can read more regarding that at this link: http://thelastcivilright.org/2013/08/11/the-black-conservative-summit-is-it-racist-to-have-one/

We wrapped up our year of traveling at a CURE policy summit and Gala Award Dinner in Washington, D.C. The policy summit had to be one of the most outstanding and informative events that the ladies as agreed as a group to have the great fortune to have been invited to attend as guests. We did an extensive blog and have numerous pictures so I won’t repeat those here, but will share again some of the highlights for us at the Summit.
